The 2019 Final Fantasy Fan Festival is held in Tokyo and there is some news about Final Fantasy XIV. The event kicked off with a keynote speech, including game director Naoki Yoshida speaking to the crowd at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Center in Tokyo and playing it online around the world. According to Square Enix, you can expect Yoshida to talk about the next announcement of the game's next expansion, which will be released this year.
The keynote speech will begin at 10:30 am EST on March 23 at 6:30 pm EST / 9:30 pm ET. You can watch the live stream on the official Japanese Final Fantasy XIV Twitch channel, or watch the English comment on the official Square Enix Twitch channel. The review will be handled by Michael-Christopher Koji Fox of Final Fantasy XIV and community director Matt Hilton. They don't translate in real time, but they discuss key points in the past. The keynote presentations will cover all aspects of FFXIV, including an introduction to the game background, a hierarchy of characters, clothing, equipment, projects, and even the features of FFXIV Gil.
The Fan Festival in 2019 will be held from March 23rd to 24th, and you can watch more shows. This includes another part of Naoki's “Naoki's Room”, where he invites special guests to talk about “not suitable for other places” on the stage. Some of the guests included a variety of voice actors, as well as executive producer and board member Yosuke Saito.
There will also be a role-playing competition where fans will showcase their best outfits based on Final Fantasy characters. If you don't have enough FFXIV Gil to buy these outfits in your own account, then this competition is an opportunity you should not miss.
The follow-up will also feature a "Letter from Producer" episode, in which Yoshida talks about the new details of Final Fantasy XIV and the developer team, where developers will provide a way to make games behind the scenes.
